Some of you might have tuned into my last blog post with my first Barossa recommendation, the quality Barossa Siam – the Barossa’s Thai hot spot. As a lover of good food, the Barossa dining recommendations are going to continue this month with the Eden Valley Hotel up next in the spotlight.

Just a pub you might think? I can tell you straight away that the Eden Valley Hotel is much more than that, it’s full of character and country charm.

If you’re after a five-star degustation, this might not be the place for you, but if you’re after some good ol’ country hospitality and a hearty pub meal that is loaded with flavour, then this is your spot!

The Eden Valley Hotel’s philosophy is simple; they base everything they do on generosity, community spirit, a genuine hospitality and sense of place.

In the mood for a classic chicken parmi or a scotch fillet steak with broccolini, creamy mash potato and shiraz jus? If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, how about my personal favourite, the hickory smoke flavoured lamb rump with seasonal veggies and smashed sweet potato mash! You can see their full menu here.

They’ve got options for a range of dietary requirements that even sound pretty great for a meat loving man like me, including roast sweet potato and cauliflower stack, roast beetroot tart with lemon gremolata or warm Barossa Valley Cheese Company brie and roast cherry tomato salad.

The beers are cold, the food is tasty with generous serving sizes, and the wine is an exploration of deliciousness from here, there and everywhere – and yes, Brockenchack wines are most certainly on the wine list!

Cassaly Fizgerald runs the show and is your ‘salt of the earth’ country woman who has created a hub in Eden Valley that is warm and inviting. It’s our Friday night go-to these days, now with young Jack in the house. You’ll find us perched at the bar with a glass of wine in hand, Jack with a port, enjoying a drink with some of the local characters.

As you might’ve noticed, I couldn’t recommend the Eden Valley pub highly enough. If you’re in the mood for a classic pub meal, I can bet that you won’t walk away from this gem of a pub disappointed!

Stay tuned for my next Barossa recommendation coming soon…
