Jack Harrison Shiraz has been crafted in honour of the amazing young man Jack has become. Sharing our passion for all things wine, Jack is currently in training to become Brockenchack’s next winemaker and viticulturist. We spent many days chasing Jack around the vineyard as a kid and we couldn’t be more thrilled that he is pursuing something he loves and planning to continue our Brockenchack vision!
Remarkably, the Barossa actually produces some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world. Our Jack Harrison Shiraz is made from our picturesque single vineyard, nestled into the back of Mt Mackenzie with an average vine age of 50 years. This cool climate premium Shiraz is handcrafted to be elegantly smooth and approachable, a wine that will age gracefully in your cellar, but can also be thoroughly enjoyed now.
The grapes used for the creation of Jack Harrison Shiraz have been hand selected and picked at their optimum baumé. The wine is traditionally made by partially crushing the grapes into open top fermenters with 10-14 days on skins. It is then pressed and left to mature in new French oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years.
Our vision is to create a wine that is intense, yet approachable, in aroma, flavour, complexity and nature. Substantial time is spent maturing in fine French oak, then further bottle ageing prior to release. This ensures developed brooding aromas of mocha, olives, blackberry and bramble. The palate is a textural ensemble of the richest, ripe, gathered black fruits imaginable, weighted and silken in delivery. Read more on the classic characteristics of Shiraz.
While we might be slightly bias about our own wines, we’re very proud of the level of recognition the Jack Harrison has received across the globe. After adding its latest silver win at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition to the list, it is fair to say these awards are a testament to its complexity and quality. These are just a few of the awards listed against the Jack Harrison Shiraz and we expect this list to continue growing!
