Our Story

One family, connecting wine enthusiasts across the globe through a shared love of storytelling and fine wine. All it takes is one memorable bottle of Brockenchack wine for the family reunion to begin.

Nearly 40 years ago Sunshine Coast resident Trev Harch, then the owner of Queensland’s second-largest family-owned construction company, had his first taste of Barossa Shiraz. It was love at first sip...

What is Brockenchack all about?

  • We're a family endeavour, named after our four grandchildren;BROnte, MaCKENzie,CHArli and JaCK
  • We're a cool climate, single vineyard wine producer in the Barossa's picturesque Eden Valley, crafting fourteen beautiful wines for our portfolio
  • We produce wines that we think people will love to drink
  • Our wines all have a story, either named after our family members or after something of significance to our family
  • Our land has been a working vineyard for well over a century with our first Riesling vines planted in 1896, believed to be some of (if not) the oldest Riesling vines in Australia

How was Brockenchack founded?

Trevor and Marilyn Harch, long-time Sunshine Coast residents, fell in love with the Barossa region and purchased the historic Tanunda Cellars bottle shop in the late '90s after years of visiting the area. Trevor also then decided to expand his wine connection by getting involved in wholesale and retail liquor sales in Queensland.

His passion for the Barossa led him to become an unofficial spokesman for the region, spending a decade promoting boutique wineries through his retail and wholesale avenues, and even opening Brisbane's premiere wine bar, Bar Barossa.

When the opportunity knocked to secure their own slice of paradise in Barossa's Eden Valley in 2007, Trev and Marilyn jumped at the chance to take their passion and run with it. After a very promising first vintage in 2008, Trev and Marilyn knew they were onto something special, and from there, Brockenchack Wines was born.

Trevor isn’t known for sitting still. So, in addition to his passion for wine, he also was overseeing an avocado and persimmon farm, as well as being the co-founder and Managing Director of the Sunshine Coast's largest construction company.

With plans of tending to his grapes until he’s 103, Trev’s vision is to turn this venture into a long-standing, multi-generational family-run winery that will be revered among the best in the Barossa.

Today, the Brockenchack Estate has grown to include a state-of-the-art winery and bottling plant, paired with luxury B&B's, a historic cellar door and a meticulously tended vineyard.

Trev and Marilyn’s now adult grandchildren are moving into their retrospective roles in the business, leading Brockenchack into a new era to reach greater heights.

With family at the core of everything they do, Brockenchack has been built to stand the test of time.Â
