2019 D.E.N RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Award Winner

Gold| 2022 Melbourne International Wine Competition

This out of the box Eden Valley Cabernet is named ‘D.E.N.’ in dedication to Darren Edward Naylor, a passionate and integral part of our Brockenchack family, father to our grandchildren Mackenzie and Bronte and wine sales specialist. Darren dedicates his time to sharing our family stories around the world and rises to every occasion with sincerity and charm. As Cabernet is Darren’s favourite wine style, we felt it only fitting to name this Reserve edition after him, in thanks for his tireless efforts in building our family’s legacy.

Decant and enjoy now, or cellar confidently for up to 10 years. One of the best-kept Barossa regional secrets is Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon!

The 2019 vintage overall produced very high quality, but lower/limited supply, with the Barossa region as a whole down between 50-80% on the prior year, and some vineyards not picking at all. This was due to high winds and spring frosts affecting flowering, followed by very hot, dry conditions in January and February. 2019 will be the lowest-yielding Barossa harvest of the past decade.

The lower yields will result in Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with great colour, intense flavours from the concentrated fruit and firm tannin structure. This will be one of the great vintages, despite the lower yield.

Bright crimson in colour and the aromas of dark berries, cedar and bay leaves start the voyage into our luscious 2019 D.E.N single vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

There’s plenty of ripe fruit with dark cherry, blackberries, cassis, subtle bell pepper and dried herbs all discovered one after the other.

Our long elegant finish is defined by classical Eden Valley Cabernet tannins sprinkled with fine cocoa, guided gently by linear French oak.
